One of the main goals of the Testerep project is to inform and raise awareness about past coastal development, current challenges and how we can tackle them sustainably in the future.

To this end, the project is committed to the translation and visualization of the newly acquired, multidisciplinary scientific information. In particular, the project aims to reconstruct both the ancient landscape and its evolution over the past 5000 years, and determine the relative impact of humans in this process. Think of realistic 3D visualizations of the key moments in Testerep's history, an interactive 3D model of the evolution of the historic coastal landscape or a strategic game to protect medieval Ostend from flooding.

Based on these visualisations, we will not only be able to raise public awareness on coastal dynamics and coastal vulnerability, but also stimulate tourism, support heritage management and provide insights for future sustainable coastal management.
